Intro
This site is dedicated to the generative and reactive music producer 1210.
1210 is an independent reactive and generative music producer using the system of Pure Data in combination with RJDJ software for the I-Phone.
1210 has collaborated with the Drum n Bass producer Netsky to create a reactive remix of his huge vocal cut “Escape” featuring Darrison. The artist signed to Hospital Records has just released his debut self titled album download from iTunes and www.hospitalrecords.com or http://netskymusic.com/about-the-album/ for further info! Looking forward to a project with Nu:Tone from Hospital in the pipelines. Also currently collaborating with Krust (formerly of Full Cycle records) on various audio and performance projects and workshop opportunities. A Future project with Imogen Heap for her ‘Love the Earth’ project has been discussed and in early development.
1210 is currently finishing in 2011 an MA in Creative Music Practice creating a reactive and generative scenes available for RJDJ, a set of scenes for RJDJ that explore the sonic opportunities this technology has unveiled compositionally.
Interest in random, generative, aleatoric and chance music from such composers as John Cage, Pierre Schaeffers’ ‘Acousmatics’, writings of R.Murray Schafer can be realized into a 21st Century composition techniques through RJDJ and Pure Data.
The real-time audio programming environments such as MAX MSP and Pure Data have enabled limitless mathematical compositional techniques inside patching to generate stochastic composition and gestural controls so the user can interact with audio in new ways. RJDJ is music ‘as’ software almost feeling somewhat ‘game’ like in places.
The possibilities of music as software is as infinite as software can be. Music has the ability then to react, change, update, unlock, network, upload, download, communicate, date affected endless communicative and reactive potential in conjunction with the worlds most social pastime, music.
Music as software……….
RJDJ, Pure Data and the iThing have enabled to become a reactive music producer working with artists independently to reactify their audio and create remixes of their material. Here is a recording of work with Krust. In this recording you will hear the elements of reactivity occurring from live manipulation and input.
